It is known as the Pygmalion effect or self-fulfilling prophecy. Its origin dates back to the ancient Greeks, who made this reality so present in our lives known through the legend of Ovid.

This legend told that a sculptor named Pygmalion fell in love with one of his creations, which he named Galatea. His love was so great and so blind that he treated the sculpture as if it were a real woman.

The goddess Aphrodite realized the great love that Pygmalion felt for her creation, and she made it come to life. Thus, what he wanted so much, in the end, was fulfilled.

The self-fulfilling prophecy present in our daily life

What happens to a person with a jealousy problem? He constantly watches his partner, looks for evidence of possible infidelities and, in the end, ends up finding what he feared so much.

It seems ironic to think that what we are so afraid of can come true. However, our actions work as if it were a call.

Unintentionally, a jealous person is looking for evidence that does not exist. However, by continuing in this dynamic, he ends up finding what he was waiting for so much.

The same happens in other areas such as school.

When a teacher senses that a student is going to fail in his / her subject and communicates this to him / her, he unconsciously believes it and acts in such a way that what was stated becomes a reality.

As we can see, self-fulfilling prophecy is quite present in negative situations. However, the Pygmalion effect can be used on its positive side.

Like Ovidio, believing that we can succeed in a project or that we can carry out a dream that no one supports can lead us to achieve it.

There is nothing impossible. However, our life is governed more by the negative than by the positive. People tend to pull us backwards. This is why the Pygmalion effect has many more negative than positive examples.

The Pygmalion effect and the law of attraction

We could compare this self-fulfilling prophecy to the law of attraction. Really, by believing something we are irrefutably attracting it until one day, without expecting it, it becomes reality.

There is no magic involved. They are not things of fate either. The answer is that our attitude changes.

For example, we will not act the same if we trust our partner as if we continually think that he is going to cheat on us with another person.

Our actions will be carving a path whose end we cannot avoid.

However, we do not pay attention and, therefore, we end up being surprised by what we ourselves have decided, in some way, to happen.

You think you are unlucky or that no one around you is good.

However, perhaps you have not looked inside yourself and have not realized that you have a strongly installed belief in the unconscious part of your brain that makes you think that everyone is a liar or unfaithful.

Our thoughts and beliefs are very powerful. Being aware of this can be used to our advantage.

You can have the life you want thanks to self-fulfilling prophecy. In fact, this is the case on several occasions, only that your thoughts attract things that do not benefit you and that hurt you.

We should try to do it the other way around, but this requires a lot of effort on your part. Freeing yourself from negative thoughts and settled beliefs can be very exhausting work.

However, it will be worth it. Imagine all that you have attracted negatively and think that, if you wanted, you could have turned it around.

You have to change your beliefs, take new perspectives and, above all, believe in what you want. Trusting ourselves will be essential for the prophecy to be fulfilled.
