The recipe is said to originate in the United States and, in fact, its name comes from the word “brown” which means “brown” in English.

The main ingredient is usually chocolate, but it also admits a wide range of additions in the recipe to vary its flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cup of roasted and diced beets (180 g)
  • 3 tablespoons of coconut milk (45 g)
  • ½ cup of butter (100 g)
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (5 ml)
  • ½ cup of cocoa powder (55 g)
  • ½ cup of coconut flour (110 g)
  • ¼ teaspoon of baking soda (1.2 g)
  • ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon (2 g)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 handful of walnuts (optional)

Instructions for preparation

  • Before handling the ingredients, preheat the oven to 180 ºC and line a mold with parchment paper.
  • Next, put the beets in a food processor and mash them into a puree.
  • Put the pulp on a strainer and press gently with a spoon to release the juice.
  • Then, add the puree to the blender and combine it with the coconut milk, melted butter, and eggs.
  • Beat for a few moments and add the banana and vanilla extract.
  • After obtaining a smooth and homogeneous paste, turn off the appliance and reserve.
  • Combine the other ingredients in a separate bowl and add it to the mixture.
  • Grease the lined pan and spread the dough until smooth.
  • Bake for about 50 minutes or until it comes off the edges.
  • Serve garnished with strawberries, shredded coconut, or vanilla ice cream.

It is important to bear in mind that brownies are one of the pastry recipes that requires the most care when baking, since they must be tender on the inside and a little crisp and golden on the outside.
