5 Delicious Ways To Stuff Ripe Roasted Bananas

Roasted ripe plantains are a very popular food in Latin America. In countries like Colombia and Venezuela, the banana is a very recurring ingredient in the kitchen. In fact, the most common preparation consists of frying them cut in vegetable oil. This is accompanied with salty, grated hard cheese.

One option to continue enjoying them in a healthy way is to grill them and then add toppings or fillings.  Next, we will see different ideas for filling ripe bananas.

How to bake and stuff roasted ripe bananas?

Ripe stuffed bananas.

The procedure is very simple. First of all, ripe bananas should be peeled and spread with oil, margarine or butter. It is recommended to do it with your hands to cover the entire fruit.

Later they are baked at high temperature for 20 minutes on each side. Since they are golden brown, even slightly dark, they are opened longitudinally with a knife.

Grilled Ripe Bananas Stuffed with Cheese

 Cheese is the most common filling for bananas, and when melted the result is delicious for a contribution of creaminess that raises the level of the dish.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe roasted bananas, 150 grams.
  • Black pepper or some other spice to taste.
  • 4 slices of cheese suitable for baking such as mozzarella, spread or fresh cheese, 80 grams.

Preparation

First of all, it is necessary to preheat the oven to about 200º C. Then, open the freshly baked bananas longitudinally.

Then, you have to fill them with cheese and sprinkle with pepper. It is recommended to bake at 180º C, until the cheese melts. Finally, it is a good option to serve immediately.

Roasted ripe plantains stuffed with meat and cheese

 This recipe offers a delicious contrast between the sweet and savory flavors:

 Ingredients

  • Salt and pepper to taste.
  • 1/2 kg of minced meat and ½ cup of fried tomato, 100 mL .
  • 1 cup of bechamel sauce, 200 mL and 1 finely chopped tomato, 30 grams.
  • 4 ripe roasted bananas, 150 grams.
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped, 25 grams, and half a pepper, finely chopped, 15 grams.
  • 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, 150 grams, and 2 cups of crumbled mozzarella cheese, 300 grams.

Preparation

First the oven is preheated to about 200º C. Then the vegetables must be sautéed, starting with the onion, then the pepper and tomato.

Then you have to add the meat, fry it a little and add the fried tomato. Season to taste. You have to cook the preparation for a few moments, until the meat is done, but still juicy.

Open the freshly baked bananas horizontally. Fill them with the rest of the ingredients; meat, bechamel sauce, mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese. Bake at 180º C, the time necessary for the Parmesan cheese to gratin.

It is best to serve immediately.

Grilled ripe plantains stuffed with tuna

The flavor of this type of fish combines very well with the banana:

Ingredients

  • Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Juice of ½ lemon 50 mL.
  • 1 teaspoon of dried parsley and 1 finely chopped tomato, 25 grams.
  • 4 tablespoons of olive oil, 80 mL and 4 roasted ripe bananas, 150 grams.
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped, 40 grams and 1 small pepper, finely chopped, 20 grams.
  • 2 cups of mozzarella cheese crumbled, 200 grams.
  • Canned tuna in oil, enough for the amount of bananas.

How to make stuffed ripe bananas.

Preparation

It begins with the preheating of the oven to 200º C. After that, you have to sauté the onion, then add the pepper and tomato and fry a little. The onion should be golden brown, at a “caramelized” point, but without overdoing it.

Then the tuna must be added and wrapped. Then add the salt, pepper, parsley and lemon juice. Mix everything well, so that all the flavors are integrated with each other.

Open the freshly baked bananas horizontally. Fill them with the tuna preparation and then the mozzarella cheese. The filling should not be bulky, just in the right measure so that it does not saturate the diner too much.

It is recommended to bake at 180º C, until the cheese melts. Finally, serve immediately, still warm.

Roasted ripe plantains stuffed with guacamole

 Here is a Mexican version of stuffed plantains that takes advantage of the good company of avocado ; guacamole is a delicious sauce, very refreshing and easy to prepare.

Ingredients

  •  4 ripe roasted bananas (150 g).
  • 2 cups of guacamole (300 mL).
  • 4 slices of avocado (40 g).
  • 2 cups of grated fresh or Latin cheese (300 g).

Preparation

  1.  Open the freshly baked bananas horizontally.
  2. Fill them with the guacamole, avocado and grated cheese.
  3. Serve immediately.

In addition to being able to fill roasted ripe bananas with these ingredients, the options are limitless. You just have to play with different sauces or ingredients that we find in our fridge or pantry, and that can be complemented with the flavor and texture of ripe bananas.
